Why Book a Pop Up Hullabaloo Music Session?

The Hullabaloo experience is much more than just a music session. Through our topics children learn about the world around us in a fun and interactive way. Activities have included making butter to eat on crackers at coffee time, planting sunflower and pumpkin seeds, tasting food from around the world and making Chinese dragon masks!

Hullabaloo Music classes can be themed with topics including 'Commotion in the Ocean,' 'Down in the Jungle,' 'Farmyard Hullabaloo,' ‘Groove around the Globe’ and ‘Groovers on Manoeuvres’. We can also theme sessions around celebrations and events, such as Christmas, Easter, Diwali and Chinese New Year.

During the carefully planned sessions children sing, dance, play instruments and also learn the importance of listening. At the end of our sessions we always have a quiet time and lots of bubbles!!

At Hullabaloo classes the children get to experience and respond to all sorts of music. Classical, country, rock, pop, swing, jazz…… the list is endless…….!!

Not forgetting the importance of traditional Nursery rhymes and songs, we also have a Song Sack from which we pull out a toy and think of a traditional song to sing about each thing!

All our singing at Hullabaloo is unaccompanied, this is so that the children can hear the tunes clearly, hear their own voice and so learn to sing in tune. Use of a backing track tends to drown out the children’s own voices! It can also be very restrictive. Not using a backing track means that we are able to go with the children’s mood and improvise as we go!! Hullabaloo Music sessions support the Early Years Foundation Stage and it’s six areas of learning and explore important musical elements such as:

pulse - beat of the music

pitch - higher and lower sounds

duration - longer and shorter sounds

dynamics - louder and quieter sounds

tempo - faster and slower

timbre - different types of sound quality

texture - one sound or several layers of sound

structure - the organisation of sounds
